Inventive Reception is a signed up adopter of the Designers Accord. I hope you can take the time to read and understand our IR “policy” towards sustainability. Your thoughts I’m sure will be inline with the Accord and mine but if there is some discussion lets do it here. This saves us time to write a statement of our own and we should be visible on the adopters page.
Here is Guy Kawaski’s entertaining and worthwhile art of innovation presentation online using “zentation”which shows video of the speaker and the current powerpoint slide. Imagine how all lectures could be archived like this!
So the only thing I’m saying is that we should be expressing a view each time. Finding something and showing something is ok… but our view and our navigation and understanding of that source or insight is what give our dialogue a value. Understanding the blog as a space for ‘views’ then it gives the idea that we are expressing a viewpoint - which in the end we hope will have value.
I think we should look to comment more lucidly about the context, meaning and our views / insights on a particular thing that has come on our eyeline. I may be wrong about this, and it maybe that a brighter more vibrant path might be found… but I imagine the value of our comments lies in a slightly more structured or edited view point perhaps(?). Short articles like the one below with connected links. I worry about the value of connecting too many other sources without developing our focused voice.
Alix Rule… has painted a new landscape for designers and the way she predicts they will interact with the world. Have read at her article and let me know if you think this is pointing at the future for all design schools. Or “d-school” as they are termed in the USA. I like it.

Design remains the most underutilized and misunderstood tool at the disposal of business. Building competitive advantage in our increasingly fast-moving, information-rich world of global access is not easy. For a while, technology was the answer. Engineers developed new technologies, whether a chip or chemistry, that did something wonderful, at least in the eyes of those who came up with it, and their companies rushed it to market and, often, to initial success. But technology alone is not enough. Take, for example, an electronic product laden with features, most of which are never used by the customer. By comparison, today’s biggest winners, such as the Palm V or the iPod, went beyond the raw technology; they used design to simplify technology, delivering it to consumers in a way that’s meaningful, engaging, and easy to use.
